Perfectly Preppy!

Spring Trend Alert...
PREPPY LOOK
Stripes, polka dots, chambray shirts, plaid, cross body bags, & totes, all in fabulous bright colors for spring!
Will you look perfectly preppy this season?

Here's a little inspiration... prep with a twist!
For specific info on my sets below, visit polyvore here.
Who would pair stripe & polka dots? I love this look & color palette. The shoes are to die for & preppy accessories like pearls & a monogram necklace polish off the "prep club" look.

I LOVE grey! But, it's certainly not an expected color for spring & to break up the shades of grey, I added a pop of spring & color with the lilac button down shirt.  I'm kind of in love with the chunky necklace & tote that would make great additions to many outfits!
A beautiful rainbow of shorts - different lengths & styles, all of which can be paired with this fun tote and another hot spring item, a comfy chambray shirt. Add a skinny belt, some bangles, converse or sandals, fedora hat & you're perfectly preppy... looking quite peppy in the bold colors!

Neon, you're not so bad!

80's inspired fashion sticks around for Spring 2012.... BOLD & brighter than ever!
Brian Atwood

I'll admit, when I started seeing the neon fashions on the runway the past couple of years and now more than ever this spring, I felt as if I were 10 years old again with Debbie Gibson's, "Only in my Dreams" - playing in my head. YIKES! I've struggled with how to pull this one off! I'm not one to draw attention to myself... but how can you not with these colors, right!?
You don't have to leave this trend to the tweens, teenyboppers & 20-somethings. It's all about moderation, own personal style, and how loud & bold you want to take the trend! In searching for new pieces for my spring wardrobe & items for this bold post, I found really yummy, not so screaming loud options that I admit are pretty amazing!  Neon doesn't have to be interpreted as nearly glow in the dark fashions. Many designers have designed pieces that are certainly bold but don't require sunglasses to look at. From splurgy spring dresses to the reasonably priced handbags, many designers knew where to take the trend for 2012. Diane, JCrew, Kate Spade... you didn't disappoint this season.

Here are some fun options from HELLO look at me bright to WOW, that's a fun color & design!
Pieces are from JCrew, asos & Nordstrom.

I couldn't leave out the littles with fashions & toys from Peek...Aren't You Curious, Nordstrom, JCrew, Vans, Converse, Zappos & Amazon.

Try a small bright clutch, neon piped jacket, or heels that pop!  What will you be wearing that makes a statement or gets the attention of a passerby... yards & yards away!?! Photos are always welcome... post yours on the SSS Facebook page

Spring Staples

Yes, it's true, my blog posts have been a little weak in the past months. I was diligently working on my son's preschool annual fundraiser with two fabulous friends. We took on the "project" nearly a year ago & the fruits of our labor came to fruition the last weekend in February. Our Denim & Diamonds themed fundraiser, hosted at my dear friends gorgeous home, brought many parents, teachers & even a few grandparents together to enjoy the beautiful evening while raising funds for Christ Church School.  You all know how much I LOVE to plan & style parties... but this was much, much more than a just a "party." My co-chairs and I worked for many months, securing sponsors & silent auction items, catering & decor details, planned a school spirit week for the children, a black jack tournament & raffles at the event & much more! The hours put into this one night were endless, but FUN & most of all, friendships grew stronger. I can't say enough about the love I have for my dear friends, the fantastic Saints Board & volunteers... and of course our fabulous school!

Just a glimpse...

Spring is upon us ladies, who's ready!?
Every season I splurge on a few items that become staples in my closet to wear for several months & into the next season. I tend to be drawn to new handbags, shoes and jewelry I can pair with items already in my wardrobe or wear with a few new purchases that don't break the bank.

After lunching with a couple girlfriends, one reminded me of the beautiful coral jeans she purchased for the TV segment last month & my other fashionable friend mentioned a green handbag she's been eyeing! So, I thought why not use these as staples, paring them three different ways. In the first three looks I also incorporated earrings & shoes!
In these next three looks I included a lovely off white handbag, perfect or spring/summer... love the cross body style! These three also incorporate spring trends... preppy, peplum & yellow & black combinations.

"Red" Carpet Inspiration

Wearing red on the red carpet has become quite popular these days.
It's dramatic, sexy, & screams high-fashion.
I created looks, all inspired by three gorgeous ladies in their Oscar evening gowns. You'll see how bows, vintage & peplum inspired me in creating these fun, girly sets for Spring!

Emma Stone in a romantic Giambattista Valli gown
Natalie Portman in a simple sweet polka dot vintage Houte Couture Christian Dior gown from 1954
Michelle Williams in an adorable Louis Vuitton gown with peplum detail & small bow

Here's how I wore my red on Your Life A to Z just a few weeks ago!

Dress: Anthropologie, Cardigan: Anthropologie, Belt: Ann Taylor, Shoes: Melissa/Saks, Bangle: Tory Burch/Nordstrom, Watch: Michael Kors

How do you like wearing red? What colors, patterns & textures do you pair with it? Are you inspired to get fun & flirty with red for spring?
